Protecting ourselves from the Corona Virus: In this time of great

concern, let us pray for countries, communities, families and individuals affected by it. But we all need to play our part to be prudent, without panic. Following guidelines of best practice you will notice already that Holy Water fonts are empty, there is no handshake at the Sign of Peace, and receiving Holy Communion is by the Host only and not by the chalice (for those who are coeliac or have a gluten intolerance there are low gluten hosts available). Please be aware that our altar society members, Church cleaners, sacristans, Eucharistic Ministers and priests are also being extra vigilant in their duties to ensure best practice. But we also ask for your own best practice too - at Communion time we ask you to follow best advice and to receive Holy Communion on your hands only; kindly ensure your own hand hygiene; and if you have a concern regarding your own health or regarding recent travels then please seek medical advice.

Tomorrow’s Parish? - Have your say!

The Diocese of Kerry invites you to share your thoughts on the future of parish. Everyone is invited to a meeting in Dromhall Hotel, Muckross Road on Tuesday March 10th @ 8pm to explore how tomorrow’s parish can thrive, given the changing society in which we live. As the number of priests in parish ministry decrease, parishes face many challenges: how will funerals be celebrated in the future, who will support children presenting for first holy communion, who will offer pastoral care and support to the sick and the housebound over the coming years, will churches close and who will support couples wishing to marry in church? Participants are invited to reflect on how their parish and pastoral area will minister and support people’s faith into the future. Similar meetings are being held throughout the diocese as the first stage of a planning process being undertaken to map out a diocesan response to today’s needs.
