KILCUMMIN GAA

CREDIT UNION CO LEAGUE

KILCUMMIN 3-16 Kerins O’Rahillys 1-12. Our seniors put in a fine performance last Sunday in the final round of the county league with a resounding victory over Kerins O’ Rahillys who were in a position to reach the league final. The victory was marred however by a bad injury to Sean O Leary who may miss the rest of the year as a result. However we hope he doesn't and wish him a speedy recovery. Sean was putting in a powerful performance throughout the game as part of a defence that contained a very good Rahillys forward line. Kevin McCarthy showed that he is returning to top form with a storming performance that yielded 2-2 from play and created a third goal for his brother John. Gary O’Leary, Matt Keane and Noel Duggan were chief points scorers but the entire team and substitutes played their part. Donal Maher, Kevin McSweeney, Damien O’Leary and Sean Moynihan had good games in defence while Kieran Murphy had a major influence in the middle of the field throughout. Team Brendan Kealy (0-1F), Sean O’Leary (0-1) Donal Maher, Dan Moynihan, Sean Moynihan, Kevin McSweeney, William Maher, Damien O’Leary,' Shane McSweeney ,(0-1) Kieran Murphy, Gary O’Leary (0-3), Matt Keane (0-3), Kevin McCarthy (2-2), Noel Duggan (0-4, 2F), Mikey O’Shea. Subs used John McCarthy (1-0), Richie O’Connor (0-1), William Maher, Sean Brosnan, Tomas O’Connor, Jamie O’Donoghue.

EAST KERRY MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP

East Kerry Minor Championship Div 3 Semi-final Kilcummin 4-14 Firies 3-14. Played in Firies this was a fantastic result for our minor team considering that we were 9 points behind early in the first half. Indeed this could have been even more, were it not for some outstanding saves from Keith O Leary in goal. We showed some great character and with a never say die attitude we clawed back the deficit and forged ahead at the death for a three point victory. While this was very much a team effort it is hard to ignore the contribution of Paul O Shea who accounted for 4-9 of our total. We now go forward to meet Glenflesk in the final a repeat of last week's League final. Another tight epic encounter is in store at a date to be confirmed.

GAA FUNDRAISER “WALL OF CHAMPIONS"

This is an unique fundraiser being run by the club to complete phase B of the current development. This will involve interior fittings and works as well as external ramps and ground works and will compliment all works to date which include provision of new training facilities, a walking track, perimeter fencing and the structure which will comprise of two new dressing rooms, referees room, treatment rooms and Gym facilities.

The "Wall of Champions" fundraiser allows people the opportunity to honour Past, Present and Future generations by purchasing a space on the wall for as little as € 5 per week for 12 months or a once off payment of € 250. It is envisaged that people will purchase them as a memory of a loved one that is RIP, as a wedding present, as a christening present or just as a way of being associated with their progressive and successful club, 2019 All Ireland Intermediate club champions. Also people are aware that these facilities will not only improve the quality of life for ourselves but also for our children and grandchildren, as well as sister organisations within the parish.

Kilcummin GAA Club would like to acknowledge the work of the development committee, the volunteers and the people who have supported this project to date. One last push and we will have a facility to boast about. Contact any member to purchase a "Brick" and declare your support for our future.
